Dear Station Members,
As you all know, ETF is the only Tree Farm in China that can grow trees to internatinal requirements of Central Leader, Live Crown Ratio, Strong Branch Attachment, Spiral Limb Arrangement, Taper, 10 x Trunk Dia. Rootball without Girdling Roots. This kind of quality does not just 'happen' with any tree but only after meticulous tree production method of Structural Pruning, Plant Health Care & other practices. These relevant skills have not yet been brought into China & China tree farmers are still producing trees like vegetables & paddies in especially Guangdong Province which is the main tree supplier to HK. Yet HK has been very tolerant of this practice to allow trees of China quality to plant all over our city. LCSD appears to be the only Govt Dept so far to demand international quality trees in their purchasing requirement for urban planting.
Under a training scheme on Nursery Stocks Standards & Structural Pruning with a Govt Dept which took place in Eurasian Garden in HK this March, samples of ETF trees were shipped down there for practical demonstration together with China quality trees to act as comparison. After the training session, these ETF trees were allowed to grow in Eurasian Garden in Sheung Shui for future educational purposes. Since TCHK (http://hk.myblog.yahoo.com/treeclimbinghk) has now shifted all its Arbor Training from Fung Kai School to Eurasian Garden every Sunday, the Station Manager has decided to open up Eurasian Garden for anyone wanting to check out on ISA quality trees with prior appointment. Sunday would be the best day since TCHK will be providing other Arbor Training like Tree Climbing & Chainsaw Operation there. Therefore, why not come down to see both rather than one?
Anyone wishing to take advantage of this opportunity is welcomed to contact the Station Manager for arrangement by e-mail or 9090 6719.
Looking forward to upgrade the quality of trees in our territory to benefit our living with living examples rather than just rhetoric words.
best regards,
Sammy Au
